Make a difference this Giving Tuesday
November 28, 2023
Dear MoMI Community,
Today is Giving Tuesday, and we hope you'll keep Museum of the Moving Image in mind as one of the amazing organizations you support today. As a nonprofit, we rely on our community, and we can't do all the things we do without your generosity.
MoMI is so much more than a building—we're an arts education center that serves approximately 70,000 students a year and teaches them crucial forms of media literacy; we're a neighborhood hub in Queens, the most diverse place in the world; and we're the only Museum in the country devoted to honoring the most ubiquitous art form of our contemporary world, reckoning with its meaning and technology, its past, present, and future.
We're also inspiring young people of all backgrounds and abilities on a regular basis. Just consider our trailblazing Marvels of Media initiative, an ongoing program of the Museum that showcases, celebrates, and supports autistic media-makers of all ages and skill sets, culminating in an annual festival of films in the spring. Look at what filmmaker Jackson Tucker-Meyer, whose film screened in last year's Marvels of Media festival, wrote to us:
“When my film screened, I found myself sitting in front of a couple of families with autistic teenage sons. Throughout the screening, I was hoping very fervently that they would get a kick out of my movie—I basically made the movie for a younger version of myself, and there they were, right behind me . . . It is still the best audience response I have ever received—it was the exact type of audience I wanted to connect with, and MoMI created a space where that could happen.”
We believe that there should be something for everyone at MoMI, and we work hard all year to make that happen. Please click here to donate now and help us reach that goal; you make this all possible.
We're thrilled to share that our friends at Sapan Studio have generously agreed to match all donations 1:1, up to $50,000 for Marvels of Media and the work of the Museum more broadly, that are received by December 31.
Thank you for believing in MoMI—the Museum of the Moment!
With gratitude,
Your friends at Museum of the Moving Image
