The Magic of Oz: A Frank Oz Retrospective

October 4–November 30, 2024

Whether he’s calling shots from behind the camera or acting in front of it, creating a character with only his voice or animating one through puppetry, Frank Oz has been one of the most versatile, eclectic, influential, and industrious moving image artists of the last half-century. In this comprehensive retrospective, MoMI will screen all 15 films for which he served as director, plus other special features and events.

Auriea Harvey: My Veins Are the Wires, My Body Is Your Keyboard

February 2–December 1, 2024

The first major survey of the pioneering net-artist and sculptor Auriea Harvey features more than 40 of Harvey’s works from her career spanning nearly four decades. Extended through December 1, 2024!

Recording the Ride: The Rise of Street-Style Skate Videos

September 7, 2024–January 26, 2025

This exhibition features videos and artifacts from skate culture’s formative years, with a focus on releases by H-Street, Plan B, World Industries, Girl, and others that defined the modern skate video genre.

Easel Engine

June 28–November 14, 2024

This series of video works span a multi-generational evolution of digital graphics, from early 1-bit constraints to complex three-dimensional models.

Open Worlds

Ongoing

Boasting one of the largest free community spaces in Queens, MoMI will make Open Worlds available during all operating hours through October. Visitors of all ages: convene, find creative inspiration, experience new media technologies, and participate in programming.
