Location: Bartos Screening Room

Dir. George Lucas. 1971, 88 mins. 35mm. With Robert Duvall, Donald Pleasence, Don Pedro Colley. Lucas made his astonishing feature debut with this dystopian science-fiction film. In an underground city, police androids use television cameras to monitor a society in which sex is outlawed, and the population is kept under control with mind-altering drugs. When THX 1138 (Duvall) stops taking his medication, he loses his ability to focus, falls in love with his roommate, and becomes a social outcast. The film was the result of a partnership between Warner Bros. and Francis Ford Coppola’s then new company, American Zoetrope.

See World on a Wire and THX 1138 for $20.

Tickets: $15 / $11 senior and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / discounted for MoMI members ($7–$11). Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission. Review safety protocols before your visit.
