Dir. Renos Haralambidis. 2005. 82 mins. 35mm. In Greek with English subtitles. With Renos Haralambidis, Giorgos Voultzatis, Mano Vakousis, Tina Thliveri, Mara Darmousli. Upon completion of his military obligation, Stefanos owns only debts left by his deceased mother. Job opportunities are non-existent, and his girlfriend has ditched him. Two childhood friends convince him that robbing a bank will solve all their problems. The robbery and its aftermath offer a hilarious look at the foibles of contemporary Greece. Based on a best-selling novel by Petros Tatsopoulos, The Heart of the Beast moves between detective film noir, bittersweet comedy, and poetic cinema.

Tickets: $15 / $11 senior and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / discounted for MoMI members ($7–$11). Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission. Review safety protocols before your visit.
