Real Rap Summer Dance Party

Location: Kaufman Courtyard

Following the screening of Idlewild, the musical gangster film set in the Prohibition-era South and starring OutKast, join us for an outdoor dance party in the the Kaufman Courtyard, featuring music, mocktails, chalk art, and games! Come dressed up to dance inspired by OutKast’s fashionable outfits!

Recommended for all ages but parental guidance is advised due to strong language.

Access to the party is free for MoMI members, Idlewild ticketholders, and all same-day museumgoers. If you are just coming for the party, tickets are $15. Order online. 

After the party in the Courtyard, present your ticket stubs at local bar Sek’end Sun to receive a 10% discount (valid for August 19, 2023 only).

About the musicians:

DJ Wiz wearing headphones and a T-shirt that says ALTQueens native DJ Wiz is a graduate of hip-hop’s classic era. He broke onto the rap scene in 1988 as the DJ mix-master for Kid ‘n Play. Throughout the ’90s, Kid ‘n Play made their mark on the music industry, touring with the likes of Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, Public Enemy, MC Hammer, Big Daddy Kane, Digital Underground, Bobby Brown, Guy, Heavy D and the Boyz, N.W.A, J.J Fad, Too Short, and Naughty by Nature.

DJ Kaykay47 is an international DJ and community organizer from The Bronx who boldly creates passion and joy through movement. In 2022, she founded “Girls DJ Too,” a program that provides access to DJ workshops for girls and women in The Bronx. Kaykay integrates personal development with hip-hop culture, utilizing DJing as an outlet for young people and adults to express themselves freely while creating a sense of community.
