Lifelong compatriots Rooster (Big Boi) and Percival Jenkins (André 3000) hatch a plan to save a Georgia nightclub called “The Church” from vengeful hustler Trumpy (Terrence Howard), who’s looking to bury the establishment and anyone who gets in his way. Set in the Depression-era South but springing from the history of prohibition-era juke joints during Reconstruction, Idlewild illustrates the blues heritage from which hip-hop emerged. There is perhaps no better outfit suited to illustrate that lineage than OutKast, Big Boi and André 3000’s trailblazing Atlanta-born rap duo known for their progressive blend of blues, funk, and electronic music.

After the film, join us for the Real Rap Dance Party featuring DJ Wiz, a graduate of hip-hop’s classic era, who broke onto the rap scene in 1988 as the DJ mix-master for Kid ‘n Play. Throughout the ’90s, the group continued to make their mark on the music industry, touring with the likes of Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, Public Enemy, MC Hammer, Big Daddy Kane, Digital Underground, Bobby Brown, Guy, Heavy D and the Boyz, N.W.A, J.J Fad, Too Short, and Naughty by Nature. DJ Wiz will be joined by DJ Kaykay47, an international DJ & community organizer from The Bronx who boldly creates passion and joy through movement, and rapper Bossman, whose music is a magical ride into different pockets of feelings and emotions.
