The Rural Route Film Festival

Aug 5 — Aug 7, 2011

The Rural Route Film Festival, created in 2003, explores many interpretations of “rural,” highlighting films that deal with people and places outside of the bustle of the city. From a documentary about an organic turnip farm in West Virginia to a backpacking drama set in Peru to a personal/experimental film about a small town in Wisconsin to the revival of a classic film about life in the country, the festival brings a taste of the heartland, and exposure for emerging independent filmmakers.

In addition to a weekend of films at the Museum, there will be screenings a few blocks away, on top of the city’s largest rooftop farm, tended by local urban agrarians Brooklyn Grange in partnership with Rooftop Films. See ruralroutefilms.com for more information.
