Rouben Mamoulian Weekend

Nov 7 — Nov 9, 2014

Presented in partnership with the Anthropology Museum of the People of New York and the Armenian Cultural Resource Center at Queens College

The Armenian-American film and theater director Rouben Mamoulian has primarily been remembered for his pioneering technical innovations, revolutionizing mobile camerawork in early talkies and directing the first Technicolor feature film. Yet his mastery is more than technical. In Mamoulian’s greatest films, spectacle and style are deeply integrated into the storytelling, and films such as Applause (filmed in Astoria), Love Me Tonight, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Queen Christina, and Silk Stockings show Mamoulian to be one of the great Hollywood directors. All films directed by Rouben Mamoulian.
