Videocracy: How YouTube Is Changing the World

Ongoing

Location: Video Screening Amphitheater

Panel discussion with Kevin Allocca, Kenyatta Cheese, The Gregory Brothers, and Vanessa Hill in person

As Head of Culture and Trends at YouTube, Kevin Allocca has watched first-hand as the video sharing platform has transformed the way we watch, make, and share video. In his new book Videocracy: How YouTube Is Changing the World…with Double Rainbows, Singing Foxes, and Other Trends We Can’t Stop Watching, Allocca charts how and why some of the internet’s most-watched videos became so popular and examines the surprising ways people around the world are using the site today. He heads a panel with Kenyatta Cheese (Know Your Meme), The Gregory Brothers (Auto-Tune the News), and Vanessa Hill (Braincraft) to share what he has learned and talk about the stories behind the videos. Followed by a book signing in the Museum store.
