The highlight of this screening is the 50th anniversary presentation of Jim Henson’s rarely seen The Muppet Musicians of Bremen, which originally aired in April 1972. An adaptation of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, with a change in locale from Germany to Louisiana, the special features Kermit the Frog as narrator, and a musical score by Jack Elliott with book and lyrics by longtime Muppets writer Jerry Juhl. In addition, the program will include clips from other Henson versions of classic fairy tales. Bonnie Erickson, who designed and built puppets for The Muppet Musicians of Bremen, will be in attendance (for the Saturday, July 2 show only). Program length: Approx 80 minutes.
