Post-screening discussion with actors Ellis Rubin (young P.T. Barnum) and Skylar Dunn (young Charity)
Dir. Michael Gracey. 2017, 105 mins. DCP. With Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya, Keala Settle. This popular musical brings to life the—partially fictionalized—extraordinary story of nineteenth-century American showman P.T. Barnum from his humble childhood to the start of his career as an entertainment promoter. Through energetic musical numbers, Jackman portrays Barnum as he risks all to start a museum of oddities and ultimately builds the “greatest show on earth”—the circus spectacle for which he is best known. The film’s music has gained its own popularity with an Oscar nomination and Golden Globe win, for the song “This Is Me.” Recommended for ages 10+
Tickets: $15 ($11 seniors and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / free for children under 3 and Museum members at the Film Lover and Kids Premium levels and above).
