Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion

Sunday, Jun 30 at 1:30 pm

Location: Redstone Theater

Dir. David Mirkin. 1997, 92 mins. U.S. DCP. With Lisa Kudrow, Mira Sorvino, Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming, Camryn Manheim, Julia Campbell. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is the kind of mischievous Hollywood entertainment we wish we saw more often today and is among the most inspired cult comedies of its decade. Bedecked with singular comic talents, from its stars (FriendsKudrow, marvelously distinctive as ever, and Sorvino, fresh off her Oscar win for Mighty Aphrodite) to its director David Mirkin (creator of the beloved Chris Elliott sitcom Get a Life) and writer Robin Schiff (member of the renowned improv troupe The Groundlings), the film uses the familiar comic premise of the high school reunion as a launching pad for an eccentric, at times genuinely surreal odyssey into the spirit and soul of two Venice Beach misfits whose stylish quirks can barely mask their insecurities. Rather than mock these daffy best friends, Mirkin and Schiff celebrate their individuality with a film as deliriously original as they are.

Tickets: $15 / $11 senior and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / discounted for MoMI members ($7–$11). There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership.
