RaMell Ross in Conversation with Sadie Tillery
Ongoing
As part of Free Friday Nights, acclaimed photographer and filmmaker RaMell Ross (Hale County This Morning, This Evening) will participate in a conversation with Sadie Tillery, Artistic Director of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, to talk about his screening series Some Other Lives of Time: Subjective Spaces for Nonfiction.
Originally programmed for the 2019 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, the screening series features both contemporary and classic works of nonfiction, including Godfrey Reggio’s seminal Koyaanisqatsi (which screens at 8:00 p.m. ticket purchase required), Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Mysterious Object at Noon, Margot Benacerraf’s Araya, a breathtaking chronicle of salt harvesters in Venezuela made in 1959, and more.
In an introductory essay about the series, Ross writes about the unique power and attraction of nonfiction film “for jarring one’s beliefs, introducing possible ways of seeing, and sweet-talking self-righteousness.”
Free admission.
MoMI Free Friday Nights is presented by the Richmond County Savings Foundation. Additionally, this program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
