Celebrating 20 Years of Jim Henson Legacy screenings

Introduced by Jim Henson Legacy President Craig Shemin

Approx. 75 mins.

In 2004, the Jim Henson Legacy presented its first screenings, starting with a special weekend event at BAM Cinema entitled “Muppets, Music, and Magic.” This started a successful international screening series. With the opening of the Jim Henson Exhibition here at Museum of the Moving Image, the Jim Henson Legacy screenings began a monthly residency at the Museum as “Jim Henson’s World” and have been playing ever since. We’ll celebrate the 20th anniversary of the start of our screenings, with a special presentation of our very first compilation program, which was assembled by Jim Henson Legacy President (and MoMI guest curator) Craig Shemin and longtime Muppet head writer Jerry Juhl. Originally titled “Muppet History 101,” the program is a chronological journey from Jim Henson’s first show, Sam and Friends, to The Muppet Show, featuring material you won’t see anywhere else, including early TV appearances, commercials, and more.

Tickets: $15 / $11 senior and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / free for MoMI members at the Senior/Student level and above. Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission. Review safety protocols before your visit.
