Moviola, 35mm Model D editing machine, 1927

Historical note
This Moviola, donated by filmmaker Morris Engel, was used in the making of the 1953 movie The Little Fugitive directed by Engel, Ruth Orkin and Ray Ashley. Shot on location in New York City and recognized for its use of portable 35mm cameras and sound recording equipment, The Little Fugitive was nominated for an Academy Award. That a piece of editing equipment from 1927 was still in use in 1953 is a testament to the design and durability of the Moviola.
