MATA Interval presents: I/O: An Evening of Multimedia Performance

Organized by Alex Nathanson and Will Owen

Glitch Lich, The Median Movement, Fan Letters, and Data Garden with Greg Fox and friends perform ambient, electronic, and electroacoustic audiovisual works that tackle the centrality of networks and their aesthetic impact on contemporary culture. Employing dance, handmade instruments, multi-continent Internet-enabled improvisation, and the electrically conductive capabilities of the human body, these works engage with the complex systems that serve as the foundations for modern life.

Hailed as the “leading showcase for vital new music by emerging composers” (The New Yorker), MATA was founded by Philip Glass, Eleonor Sandresky, and Lisa Bielawa in 1996 and presents an internationally recognized festival of new music by composers under age forty, an acclaimed series of occasional concerts, and workshops and discussions on topics of interest to young composers.
