EVENT, SCREENING

Inside Buffalo

Ongoing

With director Fred Kudjo Kuwornu in person

Part of Changing the Picture, sponsored by Time Warner Inc.

Dir. Fred Kudjo Kuwornu. 2010, 52 mins. Digital projection courtesy of the filmmaker. With Howard Fletcher, Joe Hairston, James McBride, Joe Stephenson, Spann Watson. Director Fred Kuwornu, an Italian filmmaker of African heritage, excavates the hidden history behind the 92nd Buffalo Division—a segregated African-American combat unit known as “the Buffalo Soldiers,” who fought in Italy during World War II. The film tells their forgotten personal tales—of the war they fought against the Nazis, and the one they fought against racial discrimination. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Fred Kuwornu, moderated by Warrington Hudlin.

Presented with the suppor of Italian Cultural Institute of New York
