Location: Hearst Lobby

Culminating event and opening reception on Thursday, May 24, from 6:00 p.m.— 8:00 p.m

Моя Америка (My America) is the inaugural project under One Big City, a series of collaborative residencies and events produced by CEC ArtsLink to engage New York City’s diaspora communities through international arts partnerships. “Artpologist” Daniel Gallegos (New York City) and filmmaker Mikhail Zheleznikov (St. Petersburg, Russia) present Моя Америка (My America), an installation about Russian-speaking New Yorkers from a wide range of post-Soviet states. In May, Gallegos and Zheleznikov created the Brighton Beach Memory Exchange to collect artifacts and stories, and to meet collaborators who introduced them to their new lives. The Museum presents a multimedia installation by Gallegos and Zheleznikov that emerges from these investigations: drawings and videos that offer intimate reflections of Russian New York.

One Big City is funded by The Rockefeller Foundation’s NYC Cultural Innovation Fund and the Trust for Mutual Understanding.
