Ongoing

Location: Bartos Screening Room

Experience all five of this year’s Academy Award Nominees for Best Animated Short Film:

Dear Basketball is an animated love letter to the sport of basketball narrated by NBA legend Kobe Bryant as he reflects on his love for the game since his childhood through his twenty-year career. (Dir. Glen Keane. 6 mins.)

Lou
, Pixar’s latest short film, takes place at an elementary school where a young bully is taught that giving is better than stealing by Lou, the guardian of the lost and found box. (Dir. Dave Mullins. 7mins.)

In Negative Space, a carefully hand crafted world is brought to life through stop-motion animation and the reciting of a Ron Koertge poem. The connection between a father and son is expressed through the father’s lessons on how to pack a suitcase. (Dirs. Ru Kuwahata and Max Porter. 5 mins.)

Revolting Rhymes, based on the Roald Dahl rhymes, takes the stories of Snow White, Cinderella, Jack (and the beanstalk), and Little Red Riding Hood and mixes them up into a twisted story told by The Wolf. (Dirs. Jan Lachauer, Jakob Schuh, Bin-Han To. 29 mins.)

Garden Party follows a group of frogs and toads as they explore a seemingly abandoned villa. It is only at the end they uncover what has happened to the owner. Please note: This film’s conclusion may be frightening to younger children. (Dirs. Florian Babikian, Vincent Caire, Theophile Dufresne, Gabriel Grapperon, Lucas Navarro. 7 mins.)
