Rear Window

Ongoing

Dir. Alfred Hitchcock. 1954, 112 mins. 35mm. With Grace Kelly, James Stewart, Thelma Ritter. Housebound with a broken leg in a Greenwich Village apartment, a photojournalist (Stewart) grows suspicious of what he perceives as a murder that has taken place across his courtyard, while at the same time he must negotiate the advances of his marriage-ready glamour-gal girlfriend (a pristine Kelly). There are few purer cinematic pleasures than Hitchcock’s claustrophobic thriller, which is the ultimate self-reflexive statement on voyeurism, and one of the most entertaining films ever made.
