Sunday, Nov 4, 2018
Presented in collaboration with the Anthropology Museum of the People of New York and the Armenian Museum
How can filmmakers deal with the epic scale of a genocide that catastrophically altered a nation’s history? This double-feature offers two powerful approaches. The acclaimed director and writer Terry George sets the drama of a romantic triangle against the backdrop of history in his compelling saga The Promise. Documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger (Brother’s Keeper, Metallica: This Monster Lives) weaves a complex tapestry that includes among its elements behind-the-scenes footage from the making of The Promise.
