Location: Redstone Theater

Dir. Roger Corman. 1963, 79 mins. U.S. DCP. With Ray Milland, Diana Van der Vlis, Harold J. Stone, John Hoyt, Don Rickles. One of the greats by the late “King of Cult” Roger Corman, X: The Man with the X-ray Eyes follows an ambitious surgeon and scientist, Dr. Xavier (Milland), who formulates eyedrops that allow him to see more than the visible spectrum of light. Eager to push the discovery to its limits, Dr. Xavier ends up with an X-ray vision that he can’t control. Using a new photographic technique called Spectarama, the filmmakers represent Xavier’s evolution with trippy special effects. Corman’s horror story speaks to cultural fears about ambition, power, and visibility.
