Dirs. Ken Burns, Sarah Burns, David McMahon. 2012, 120 mins. Digital projection. The powerful documentary The Central Park Five examines the notorious 1989 case in which five black and Latino teenagers were convicted of raping a white woman in Central Park. After the teens spent between six and thirteen years in prison, a serial rapist confessed to the crime. The screening is part of APT’s celebration of Black History Month and is in line with the organization’s mission to support and enrich cross-cultural understanding and discussion. A portion of ticket sales will benefit The Afrikan Poetry Theatre. 



This program was organized by APT Executive Director Saiku Branch and Medgar Evers College Professor Kerri Edge in conjunction with MoMI, the Queens Justice Corp, LIFE Camp Inc., and the Jamaica Is…Arts Alliance.
