Season 3, Episode 4: “What If It Spreads?”
With creators, writers, and executive producers Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen in person
Dir. Jay Duplass. 2024, 30 mins. U.S. DCP. Set in Manhattan, Kansas, the Peabody Award-winning HBO Original comedy series Somebody Somewhere follows Sam (comedian and singer Bridget Everett, in a revelatory performance), whose return to her hometown forces her to contend with family, friends, and her relationship to herself. The third and final season of this delightful show is humorous, tender, and unlike anything else on television. With its superb writing and compelling performances by Everett, Jeff Hiller, Mary Catherine Garrison, and the rest of the wonderful ensemble, watching Somebody Somewhere can feel like hanging out with a good friend: it’s a series of startling relatability and emotional truth, centering on the quotidian struggles of people trying to find their voices.
