Skate Video Essentials: The Legacy of Mike Ternasky
Saturday, Sep 7, 2024 at 5:30 pm
Location: Redstone Theater
Screening and discussion with special guests, followed by reception
To mark the opening of the exhibition Recording the Ride: The Rise of Street-Style Skate Videos, this program focuses on the seminal work of the late Mike Ternasky, whose videos for the brands H-Street and Plan B were foundational to the development of the genre, and whose influence is still felt today. This event will feature an all-new digital re-master of Plan B’s 1993 release Virtual Reality, along with rarely seen archival footage. Michaela Ternasky-Holland, Ternasky’s daughter, will moderate a discussion with skateboard legends Matt Hensley and Rick Howard and filmmaker Jacob Rosenberg, Ternasky’s protege and collaborator.
Tickets: $20 / $15 MoMI members (tickets include general Museum admission and access to the galleries). The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership.
Advance tickets are sold out. A limited number of standby tickets may become available at the door. Ticket purchasers should pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission.
