Safety Last!

Sunday, May 4 at 1:00 p.m.

Location: Redstone Theater

Dir. Fred Newmayer and Sam Taylor. 1923, 73 mins. Restored DCP. In his most fabulous—and iconic—display of death-defying derring-do, comedy legend Harold Lloyd is a small-town kid who has just arrived in the big city. Starting off at the ground floor of a department store, he must literally climb his way to the top after he and his buddy plan a publicity stunt that quickly goes awry. Filmed on location in downtown Los Angeles using a panoply of now textbook techniques to conjure the impression of Lloyd ascending the facade of a single building, Safety Last! remains every bit as thrilling as the day it was released.
