Program 1: A Hundred Years of Argentine Animated Films

Saturday, Nov 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm

Location: Bartos Screening Room

Introduced by guest programmer Juan Manuel Dominguez

The Buenos Aires Film Museum has long been dedicated to the rescue and preservation of animated films made in Argentina during the 20th century, and to make them available to audiences. Organized by genre, this curated program brings together classical animators such as Juan Oliva, Jose Burone Bruché, and Jorge Caro; self-taught pioneers like Quirino Cristiani, Víctor Iturralde Rúa, and Luís Brás (associates of Norman McLaren); and independent and underground filmmakers like Feldman, Catú, and Alventosa. All selected shorts, except for those by Iturralde, Bras, and “Catú” (given by Fernando M. Peña), belong to the Buenos Aires Film Museum Collection.

Programmed by the Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken.
