Pictures of Ghosts

Acclaimed Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho (Bacurau, Aquarius) turns to the deeply personal and the cinephilic in this multidimensional journey through time, sound, architecture and filmmaking. Using the urban landscape of Recife as backdrop, Mendonça weaves a tapestry of history and movie love, examining the great movie theaters of his past, spaces of community from the 20th century that are now halls haunted by the ghosts of the past. Combining archival documentary footage, clips from his own work, and memories from his childhood and adolescence, Pictures of Ghosts draws a map of the city with cinema as its north star.  

Tickets: $17.50 / $12 senior and students / $10 youth (ages 3–17) / discounted for MoMI members ($7–$11). There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership.
