Part of Godzilla vs. MoMI
Dir. Takashi Yamazaki. 2023, 125 mins. Japan. DCP. With Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, Kuranosuke Sasaki. Japan has only just begun to recover from the Second World War when another catastrophic force arrives to wreak mayhem on the nation’s already scorched Earth—Godzilla. During the war, disgraced Kamikaze pilot Koichi saw firsthand what the beast could do before it was baptized by the atomic bomb. He now vows to defeat Godzilla once and for all and protect his homeland and its people, no matter the cost. Released to great acclaim from fans and critics alike, Godzilla Minus One recaptures the bleak atmosphere of the 1954 original like no other sequel has done and elevates the reputation of the franchise’s special effects to new heights, even winning a visual effects Academy Award for its stunning realization of the King of the Monsters.
Tickets: $15 / $11 senior and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17) / free for MoMI members at the Senior/Student level and above. There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership.
